Season 3 Opening Concert: Sunday, September 29 at 3 p.m.
The Chamber Orchestra of Barrington at St. John’s, led by Music Director Edward Markward, will present its third season’s opening concert on Sunday, September 29 at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 191 County Road, Barrington. The featured work on the program is Georges Bizet’s spirited Symphony in C, composed when Bizet was only 17 years of age. Also on the program are Tomaso Albinoni’s beloved, Adagio for Strings and Organ, a work actually composed by Remo Giazotto from themes by Albinoni, and Leo Delibes’ Le Roi s’amuse, which is a suite of dances from incidental music to Victor Hugo’s play of the same name. Comprised of 36 professional, community and student musicians from Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts, the ensemble was created to showcase the finest quality music in the chamber orchestra repertoire. The orchestra is hosted by St. John’s Episcopal Church and Jacob Stott, its director of Music. The orchestra is now a non-profit corporation. Our concerts are free, but donations are welcome.
